Their high in a compound that gives humans gas... A pre biotic of some kind... Can't see it being a big deal though... What a great crop for the ducks and chickens, easy to grow and prolific...
Be interested in more thoughts about Jerusalem artichokes too...

Interesting read apparently chickens are less sensitive to the poisons then other species...
Really? My friend has a sister in Haiti their coop is under an avocado tree the birds free range on whatever avocados fall from the tree and are fed all the peelings from the households use of the avocados...
If I remember correctly from earlier on this thread avocado is toxic to ducks but it seems to be fine for chickens
You could use the search this thread feature and just plug in the word avocado
Oh and my ducks really like Russian kale, practically grows like a weed in my garden.
They don't get it all the time but they like it and no health issues here.
I think kale is fine, it has oxalic acid but way less than spinach. And it's muck higher in calcium, apparently even more than milk. Found a list at healthyonraw.com of oxalic acid levels in common foods. It looks like lambs quarters would be very bad for ducks it has more oxalic acid than spinach.
For ducks I'd avoid Swiss chard too. It's related to spinach and depending on why it blocks calcium absorption Swiss chard may do this too. Same possibly with beet greens, also related. Younger plants are usually lower in all mineral etc compared to mature versions so baby greens may be safer...
