Yeah. Still unsure, but we shall see. Ducks eat A LOT compared to chickens. Yeah, never base a chick's (or duckling's!) final colour on their down colour! I've found this especially true with the chickens though. Ducks, at least the Muscovy, are a bit better. Probably because I don't have...

I hereby make you an honorary Canadian. Also, he probably had to go to bed. He's in Greece, after all. They have weird time over there. :lau As for what you said, you probably mean a bad habit? Like biting your fingernails, only worse. Don't have to tell us. Speaking of weird time...

Well, I doubt they'd go that far. Would they? 😟

That's our high here today (8 C), only getting colder after that. I cleaned out the coops and put in fresh shavings since the rain made a mess of things. My cheeks are tingling now that I'm back inside. What the heck am I gonna do once the dreaded W hits??!

I think two of my chickens got into something... Of course, it would be the cockerel I was planning on holding back and one of the prettier pullets. Both are having trouble staying up on their legs and walking. I have them in a separate pen right now and they seem a *bit* better? But it's...

My thoughts too, but *which one*??! I'll have to talk to my daughter about culling 'her' Cayuga mix drake. That's in brackets because she hardly even looks at them anymore, much less cares for them. I'm the one who's been buying all the feed for them for the past year and a half or more, even...

You're in luck, there are Buff Orpington ducks!!! :lau Research the breeds so far as eggs go, though. Muscovy are the friendliest, imo, but they don't lay many eggs in a season. And like I said, I'm not crazy about the looks or personality of the Khaki Campbells. Magpie are friendlier and...

Overall, I've found the Muscovy to be darlings. My females are only aggressive towards other birds when they have babies. I usually don't let young chicks around any adult birds until they're much older though, if I'm raising them myself. Only one of my birds that I found have any serious...

And yes, I'd love to get some Brahma, eventually. They grow so slowly though!

I was talking ducks, and attached pictures of ducks. You need to stop seeing chickens everywhere, lol!

I do. But I don't have the attachment to them as I do to the ducks. Except for Fluffy, of course. I love my Fluffy.

So far as production, it's Khaki Campbell. But I've found them to be nervous and flighty and honestly, very drab-looking. As for friendliness, well, there's a reason I hoard Muscovy! But the flavour is not the same as a Domestic (mallard-derived) duck.

Trying to decide who stays for breeding next year, and who goes to Freezer Camp, so far as my Domestic ducks goes. It's going to be a heck of a lot more difficult with the Muscovy, since I have so many! I currently have five drakes, and only four ducks. Logic would be to only keep one drake...

First eggs are also notorious for not being fertile, so wait a couple of months and enjoy mini omelets, lol!

I also love Autumn, but it means that the despised white stuff will be here soon. I guess it's nature's way of apologizing to me for it? Bedazzle me with all the pretty colours and cool temps?

Flight? That big lump probably waddled across the road! :lau Yeah, they seemed themselves by yesterday evening. Only got one egg out of the chickens, though.
