Tried the ACV I started in Sept. Holy crap, it's strong! Started some again today. I'm not gonna let this one go for as long, see what the taste difference is
I looked into doing this as well. A tip I read said to cut a small slit into each grape, don't cut them in half, just slit them open a little so the insides dry faster. I don't know how that method works, we ended up eating the grapes before I got a chance to try it
I planted garlic the other day, for the first time. Hope it does good!
I do dried apple slices. I usually use apples from my dad's tree, Bonnie's Best they are called. Sweet and huge apples. Today, I will be dehydrating the peppers I saved off of my plants I brought inside
Tomorrow, I will be dehydrating the rest of my bell peppers. I brought two plants inside to overwinter and have so many peppers from them. And have a lot of jalapenos. If I froze those, think they would be ok in fresh salsa over the winter?
Oh, yum!
Nice haul! I've grown sweets before and loved them. I just put them in a warm place for about a week then in my basement they went. But follow what @BirdsBeesTrees posted. That sounds better!
I've had no issues with the Nesco dehydrator I bought at Walmart. It's the basic model but does come with a lot of trays(I think 5) and comes with the special liners to make fruit leather and jerky. It's the only one I have experience with
I condition them by putting them in a jar and putting a lid on. Every day for about a week I shake them up and make sure there is no condensation on the sides of the jar. If there is, they need dehydrated more. If no extra moisture, I throw a dessicant packet in there and put them on my basement...
Good job! I'm making sauce and apple cider vinegar tomorrow from apples from my parent's tree. I dehydrated tomatoes this year, they did good. I plan on adding them to chili or stews
