They may not intentionally eat it but it gets into them anyways because it sticks to food, and they do root through things and if they see a stone they want to eat, and it has grounds on it, etc. When they squish a beetle, it's goober guts cling onto coffee grounds and all that goes into the B...
the pucks you should just be able to break apart with your hand. They are very finely ground coffee that had steam blown through them essentially, which makes them stick together a bit but otherwise pure coffee (VERY rare you will find me calling sbucks coffee so enjoy !! )

Id imagine you are getting recycled grounds. In other words, possibly used previously to make coffee somewhere. Because of that, NO they are NOT going to have that wonderful coffee smell, because that all got sucked out and put into the cup of coffee they were previously used to make. If...
I'll leave the official answer to duck owners but would imagine that if there is not any water in their coop, then they can't splash it all over the place and make a mess with it, so less messy on that aspect, but they can come in soaking wet, slopping around, pooping on everything etc, so...
Id say no for ducks, grounds hold water pretty well, and ducks and water kind of go together. Caffeinated Quackers, yah that'd be a sight to see.

This may have been said before but, if you goto one of your local coffee houses, starbucks etc they may very well give you the grouds for free. I know many of those types of places love to give that stuff away to gardeners / composters, the 'green' crowd and would probably not have any issues...
