Sonny, 1.5 years old came with me yesterday to let the laying flock out of the pen, and This was too much for my heart! Loves his chickies!
(I don't think the feeling is mutual, but that is beside the point 🤣)

Jahosafat was flattered by all the nice comments about her! Here she is with a bearded buff laced. You can see she does have stunning golden colors, but the lacing is a bit incomplete and her hat also didn't lace out well. She is here waiting for her "date" who is a beautifully golden laced and...
No problem. I think you will find it useful often.
But I repeat, wear gloves! The first time a walked around a week with a blue pointer finger and it drove me absolutely insane.
Yep - definitely picking.
I'm not sure. All we have tried is the bluekote. You wouldn't have to observe long before you'd see them goiing after it. Especially if he has been away for a few hours.
And if there is some open skin from the picking, this is totally okay to spray on. It is what we put on our roosters spurs after we remove the outer shell to stop any infection.
Make sure to wear gloves as well.

That is an Amazon link for bluekote. Our first Polish cockerel we weren't sure what was going on when he lost those feathers, but thought it was some sort of parasite. We know now that it wasn't, but we sprayed the BK on...
So this is most likely going to be picking - especially if you have two cockerels together - but for whatever reason this spot is very tempting for chickens to pick at.
We usually wait until a year so we can see how they mature in terms of physical characteristics because we are going for complete show birds, mainly cockerels.
However, we've hatched from hens around 14 weeks I believe.
Oh wow! What an interesting bird! Beautiful!
Johosafat is the result of a cross between a golden laced polish and a bearded black. So technically because her lacing isn't acceptable, she would just be a mutt polish. Maybe a golden mutt?!
Ohhhh no. Not with polish.
Need to be separated at 10 weeks, preferably before. They sexually mature faster than most breeds. We typically move or sell cockerels out at 7 or 8 weeks.
