I should try to get a pic of them next to one of my standard sized birds.
Violet just raised 3 chicks for me: a Turken, a lavender Orpington, and a silver Appenzeller Spitzhauben. They are 10 weeks old and dwarf her!
I've gotta a Silkie question...
So hubby and I went on a mini vacation to a B&B out here on the Northern California coast. The owner had a whole mess of Silkies in a really cute run behind the inn.
Comparing them to my 2, they looked huuuuge! Now I'm wondering if mine are just e tra small or...
Guess what? The Silkie I thought was a boy started laying eggs. Now she's gone BROODY! She's so tiny and so crazy!
I am trying to break her now. Boy is she angry! I tried using the dig crate I use for my big girls, but she's too tiny! I have her in an old file crate turned upside down on the...
I see! That's pretty cool! And that's been pretty reliable for you, then? Even with Silkies? My Silkies feathers were so "silky," I couldn't make heads nor tails of anything (so to speak).
Normally, it's like $10 (if memory serves). But mine are already paid for, and I just wanna give them away at this point.
How do you wing/feather sex? And at what age? I couldn't tell when I tried - LOL! I'm such a noob.
Anyone want 2 DNA tests for their Silkie chicks? I accidentally ended up with extra tests, and I don't want them to go to waste. I'd email them to you, and you'd mail them in with feather samples. Results take about 2 weeks.
The first person to PM me can have them!
:wee
That's a heck of an idea! I'm looking at new power tools. We are thinking of moving soon, and I'll have to build a new coop - a bigger coop. For more chickens.
