Yes you are right about that, I was just wondering why they are not chasing any of my females around. My Mallards did at 6 weeks and sometimes even younger. I am happy that they are not, don't get me wrong, just surprised. Rouen ducks must be late bloomers, lol.
My two Rouen Ducklings that are now 7 weeks old are acting rather strange. I have never had Rouen ducklings this old and got them as 3 day old ducklings from TSC. They are staying to themselves and not bothering any of my hens. If these were Mallard ducklings which I have raised many times...
Thanks. If my Rouen ducks had black bills and would quack I would have thought for sure they were hens but with the green bills and black rumps and peeps, I am almost positive they have to be drakes. I hope both of yours are females.
I like number 1 myself. My Husband is a carpenter and built our house, we have all Cherry trim upstairs and Walnut downstairs, no paint on any of it, just a beautiful finish to show the wood's beauty. That is probably why I like number 1 the best. That's really a neat looking house you...
I think that Frankie will adjust to it's handicap just fine, especially since it was born that way. He sure is a cutie pie and I can surely see why you cannot put him through a very expensive surgery.
Wow, I don't see how you do it. My four in the house was enough to almost due me in and that was why I moved the Rouen ducklings out at about 3 weeks. Cool nights did not hurt them a bit and they loved being separated from the rest of the flock and in a big pen to themselves. My Calls got...
I would just clean if off really well. I am afraid of bleach myself as ducks dig in the soil so badly and I am afraid it will hurt them. I would not tear it down.
Yes her acres were all flat land so she was blessed. It would be hard to build something if you lived on a hill or a ridge. I can surely see your dilemma. I guess you and I should both rethink Geese.
I had a bus driver friend that used skids and made a huge chicken coop and a very large duck coop. When I saw a picture of them and I could not believe how huge and beautiful they were. She even got the skids for free so she basically built free coops.
Thanks for sharing. It's neat that you can sex them young instead of having to wait for what seems ever that I am doing with these Rouen ducks that I have. They sure are cutie pies.
