Don't look to me to keep you strong, I fall in love with every chicken I see! In fact, that picture of the polish you posted has me dying to get one. And I promised my husband I wouldn't get more chickens this year! Now how am I going to explain to him that it's somehow your fault I'm breaking...
These look like Japanese beetle larva to me. If so, the beetles will attack your fruit trees, roses, green beans, e tc. Good thing your chickens love them as treats!
I agree with you, loved my kids, spoiled them them rotten, etc. But animals are so much easier. They don't whine and complain about everything, they love you to death, they're always happy to see you, and are grateful for everything you do for them! You couldn't pay me enough money to have more...

I did, and they were fascinating! Thank you for making them available to us. Don't know I would have found that information on my own. It reinforces what I've always believed. They are so smart!
It really doesn't take much to train them on the piano, just their favorite treats. My avatar is miss b.b queen, my music loving chicken. All my girls would play, peck on the keys, but this one would string together notes for her treats. I miss her terribly. Took the piano out after she passed...
tell your wife about my emergency camping tent I set up in a spare bedroom when the weather goes single digits. It's easy set up, easy to carry outside and clean(just turn inside out and jet spray), and big enough to improvise a roost in. I do leave a window cracked for them so it's about 35...
