    Do certain breeds tend to fly more than others? My first flock never flew (B.O's, Barred Rocks, Comets). My new batch(Arauanas, B.O's, Wyandottes and BJG's) are practicing flying in the brooder at two weeks!

    Hi. My husband and I are in Templeton. We get our chicks in the spring at feed stores. I just gave away two old hens (not laying much anymore). We loved our Buff Orpingtons. Do you have heat in your coop? We don't, but with 6-8 hens, they keep warm enough. Just thought I would say hello.

    HOw to discard bedding after mites/lice?

    I need to treat my 6 hens for lice/mites very soon.... DO i clean the coop first, then treat the birds? And, If I compost the coop bedding... am i spreading the mites/lice to my property? Can I burn it? Or treat it with Sevin/Adams then discard? Thanks in advance for the helpful replies!
