    Duck with unresponsive respiratory issues?

The vet has already given two antibiotics, the LA 200 oxytet and the sulfa antibiotic similar to Bactrim. It could be a virus or fungal problem instead, in which antibiotics are not effective. The oxine can be helpful with fungal infections. If you haven’t already, I would also post on the duck...

    Baby Chicks with Worms

For tapeworms it is best to use a wormer with praziquantel. Those include Equimax horse wormer paste or Zimectrin Gold. Droncit or Drontal tablets also have praziquantel. Equimax dosage is 0.03 ml per pound. Repeat in 14 days to get the newly hatched worm eggs.

Constipated chick after pasty butt. doesnt open eyes

It doesn’t sound promising. How old is the chick, and was it shipped or from a feed store? I would dip the beak in sugar or electrolyte water as often as it can swallow. Unfortunately pasty butt is a sign that the chick has suffered from shipping stress, and has become dehydrated. It also could...

bubblegum flavored amoxicillin for a duck?

The bubblegum flavoring is not a problem, but what does the label say? Is this the 50mg per ml strength? That would be a lot of volume to give the duck. Dosage can range from 125-250 mg orally twice a day (every 12 hours,) and some use 57 mg per pound. What does the leg look like? Is a vet...

Pullet with crusty skin and swollen eyelids

Hard to know what this is from, but scratching it shows it itches. If you have some antibiotic ointment such as Terramycin or Neosporin, I would apply a small dab to the eye twice a day. It won’t harm to use antifungal cream (miconazole, clotrimazole) to the face in case of favus. Let us know...

    Coccidiosis symptoms

How old are the chickens? Coccidiosis is common in young chickens, but not so much in older chickens. Symptoms are lethargy, runny or blood tinged droppings, no appetite, and a hunched or puffed up appearance.

    Corridiosis concerns

For chickens, the outbreak dosage of Corid amprollium is 2 tsp per gallon of water. Corid is very safe. A necropsy is an autopsy for animals, done by the state vet pathologist. It is the best way to find a diagnosis for what was wrong. Depending on the state the price can be very reasonable.

    Bottom Issues

It could be feather picking. Is either area under the vent enlarged from fluid/water belly or a reproductive disorder such as internal laying/salpingitis? Are they overcrowded at all, are they getting out to free range, and what do you feed?

Can someone help me?!! I’m losing my marbles

I think @Miss Lydia just responded on your original thread. I have no experience with ducks, but you can also post on the duck forum under “forums” above.

    Corridiosis concerns

Did you get a necropsy to confirm the diagnosis? How much Corid are you using? I would use 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder in each gallon of water for 5 days. Poop pictures are welcome. Do they have granite poultry grit to help the gizzard grind up food. What are you feeding...

Chicken losing feathers and and one with fire red bottom . No rooster just hens .

It looks like others are pecking and breaking off her feathers. You could try spraying on some blue dyeing BluKote on the bare or red spots, or a cream such as Nustock which can hide them as well and is bad tasting. Look at how much room they have, are they getting outside to free range or are...

    Chicken not eating well

Valbazen is given orally, not in the water because it settles. Dosage is 1/2 ml for a 4-6 pound chicken given once, and then repeated in 10 days to treat the worm eggs that hatch. Sorry that she is not doing much better. Has she laid any eggs, and is she eating better?

Rooster comb dark on the edges

Do you have another rooster? Can you get him drinking some fluids or electrolytes? Roosters with large combs can get dark tips and dark toward the back occasionally from excitement or with temperature changes, or if dehydrated. But he looks like he may have been getting pecked or run around into...

    Need help

I am leaning towards this being a tumor. How is she doing? Is she eating, drinking, and walking around? Do you have to keep her separate from the others because she is being hurt? You could watch her for awhile, but I think once she appears to be shutting down and suffering, I would put her...

Help! Lethargic Hen with Mushy but Emptying Crop

What are all of the foods you are feeding her? Do you provide poultry granite grit to aid digestion? Since her crop emptied overnight, that is a good sign. You might try some probiotics. Many use a tsp of chilled coconut oil cut into slivers and fed to chickens to help pass a blockage. Also...

    Need help

Is the right side of her head puffy like air or fluid or firm like tissue? It may be a tumor, or it could be a pneumovirus called swollen head syndrome. A respiratory disease might also be something to rule out. I would contact your state vet lab tomorrow morning, and ask about getting a...

    Mites!?

It may be lice eggs at the base of feathers. Look for live lice crawling around on skin under the vent and elsewhere once she is dry. Lice or mites are killed by permethrin garden dust or permethrin spray used once and then again in 10 days to get the hatched lice eggs. Treat the coop as well...

Is this poop bloody? Is this poop bad?

Oh I am so sorry. It may be very difficult for it to get enough to eat and drink with this beak injury. When this injury happens to grown chickens, they usually need to be tube fed and learn to eat again. You could try dropper feeding it, just placing a drop of water or mushy wet feed on the...
