I was wondering how narrow of a space can my chickens fit through? I have barred rock and golden laced wyendottes.

I have only babies this year. I hope once I get them into a routine they will know what to do.

Thanks, the just did their first night in the coop. The only problem I had was getting them to go to the enclosure section. I guess when they figure out where it’s warm they will automatically go there. Just going to manually put them to bed for a couple of day and hope they figure it out.

Thanks. The garage is not heated and they have been without supplemental heat for about a week. We try to give them day trips to the coop as well. My brooder box is 4’x4’ they just seemed cramped in it. I would like to leave them in it for another 2 or three weeks but it’s just getting to small.

I was thinking of plexiglass to enclose the top, just so it wouldn’t be so dark? Is that a bad idea??

For a run only?

I have 8 chicks. I was thinking of using plexiglass to fully enclose it. The coop is roughly 8’ long and 3’ wide. I live in north Idaho. I do plan on building a run in the for them to get out and exercise. They will also have free range of the yard in the evenings and weekends.

We bought 8 Barred Rock chicks from our local feed store (big box store, North 40). About week 2.5 one of our chicks started looking different. Does anyone know what she may be. It’s beginning week 5 now.
