    Caged Bird and Parrot Thread!!!!

Don't always think clipped wing feathers will keep them grounded. About 35 years ago I took my macaw outside (feathers on one wing cut) it was a bit breezy and he caught the wind and flew up in a tree. The next flight he made it about 50 yards into a 2' tall hay field where I caught up with him.

    Weasel prevention?

Put a board down to the ground standing on edge that the gate/door closes to, fasten to run some how and fasten your hardware cloth to it and bent to lay on the ground. It is kind of a pain having to step over it but was the only way I could find to keep the weasels out.

    Weasel prevention?

You can bend the 1/2" hardware cloth to lay flat on the ground and then let the grass grow up through or cover with woodchips, gravel or even a couple inches of dirt. The hardware cloth should be out around 16" or more.

    No rooster but broody hen.

If she is still laying which she must be ( just 1 egg under her, if she gets up they rollaway) is this just the beginning of being broody? If she never gets a clutch of eggs would that break her being broody?
