Not looking too good for shipped eggs

I did. I also weighed them to make sure the humidity is good and they loose enough weight before they go in lockdown. Their weight loss is right on track. I calibrated my govee right before I hatched my byc in this nr360. No issues with that hatch. I was super careful with these eggs cause I...

Not looking too good for shipped eggs

I candled them last night. Only 2 are growing. Zero signs of life in the rest. I kinda already knew this but you know, wishful thinking. I cracked one open but I busted the yoke. I didn't see anything in it though. It was either scrambled or not fertilized. Since they all passed the sniff test...

Not looking too good for shipped eggs

I bought some pretty expensive silkie eggs from the other side of the state. Took less than 24 hours to be shipped and received. The box looked great when I got it and were packed so well, I doubt a fart could have escaped! Got them all in the incubator 6 days ago. I candled on days 4 and 5...

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Maybe I'm just seeing streamers because I want to see them. I think he'd make a pretty boy. I'll just have to wait it out

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Here’s a couple side pictures of the mud monster lol. As I was going to let them out to run around, someone crowed!! Not sure who it was but it was sooo cute! So I think I read somewhere that a cochin/silkie will mature faster than a silkie. Anyone know if that is true?

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Right but it's fun to guess until they do one or the other. I won't even name them yet because I'm sure as soon as I name one Susie it'll crow!

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Yes he is and he love to play-fight. I know the girls do too but he just looks like a boy. If it's not too muddy, I'll try to get a better picture of him

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Pretty sure this one is a little boy. They’re all just 13 weeks and I’m probably wrong but that’s what I’m thinking.

Help egg pip yesterday at 2:30 PM and still hasn't zipped!!!

I would leave it alone and let it do it's thing. Sometimes it takes longer than 24 hours for them to get out. It is probably still absorbing the yoke and resting. Breaking out of an egg is exhausting and some chicks take their sweet time making it happen. Good luck with your hatch!

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Thank you @CSolis and @Hinotori. I'll try cleaning them tomorrow. Is it common for that to happen? Any way to avoid it in future hatches?

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Can y’all tell me what’s going on with this little chick? I have 2 like this. They’re filling in but the rest of the hatch has already fluffed up. They’re 9 weeks old tomorrow.

    Ants eating chickens alive!!

It has to be raw grits, not the instant kind. It works well! Just sprinkle it where you see them. It doesn't have to be a lot. They will gather it all. I used to have ants around my house and in the garden. Haven't seen any in a couple years

    Most common chicken killing predators?

Those dogs have been doing this all over the area. They done the same thing to another coop, at another house less than a mile from here. Their electric fence didn't stop them. The owners say they stay at home. Animal control has traps out to catch them, with no luck. A pellet gun would do no...

    Most common chicken killing predators?

Neighbor’s dogs did this for fun. They played tug-o-war with them and left them. They got them all. I hatched out their eggs. I got 6 byc out of their 13 eggs. They stayed in my yard with a 4’ fence and my pitty and bully until we got an acre fenced in for them. 6’ for the chickens, 4’ fence...

    HELP ME!!

I used a rolling pin and crushed the starter feed to make it small enough for the itty-bitties. Good to know for the next hatch! Thx!

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I got 4 paints just shy of 6 weeks. I've got 6 more paints, 3 chocolate and one that is supposed to be a paint but looks chocolate that are 8 days younger than the first ones. I've been keeping them all together inside at night and they go out for the day. I made a little covered play pen...
