Experimental Bumblefoot removal success!! (The Easy Way!!)

Well, I usually start with removing the previous scab, then if there is already an open hole underneath, great. But a lot of the time their feet will heal SUPER fast and I have to make a new cut underneath the scab because the old hole is either too small or closed up.

Experimental Bumblefoot removal success!! (The Easy Way!!)

I agree with most of what you said, but I will say I don't think chickens drinking the bath water is a concern, as don't chickens pretty much refuse to drink warm water? (I've read that in articles about risk of dehydration in the summer if the water gets too warm)

Experimental Bumblefoot removal success!! (The Easy Way!!)

The water is about 2-3 inches deep. That particular chicken got a little wetter than normal because she tried to escape and splashed water on herself. She wasn't soaked tho. The other hen I tried it on just sat in there quietly the whole time, and she only had a slightly wet bum. Drying them off...

Experimental Bumblefoot removal success!! (The Easy Way!!)

Here are some photos of my tub set up, and one of the hens wrapped up. The hen is an Easter egger. So medium sized. I think this set up would still leave plenty of room for a larger chicken too. As far as Epsom salt, I never measured how much I used. I just put a lot, until the water couldn't...

Experimental Bumblefoot removal success!! (The Easy Way!!)

Hey folks. So bumblefoot is one ailment I've always struggled to treat within my flock, and I've never been able to find a way to do it successfully after many difficult (and mildly traumatic attempts) but finally, I've discovered the secret. A, dare I say it, EASY way! I've done this on 3 feet...

    First time rooster owner!

Hmmm. That is a tough one. Maybe you could buy him some spur covers for a bit since that's his main method of attack? That way you don't have to fear him and he will begin to realize he can't do anything. I would also try hand feeding him first, and letting him distribute any snacks or treats...

I agree. Although I've noticed a pattern, my frizzle roosters are quiet and my smooth ones are loud! Even tho they are all related! (Father, and his 4 sons)

Comment by 'Katakornchicks' in article 'Common Rooster Myths - Clearing Up Rooster Misinformation'

I may have to slightly disagree with the last fact; some roosters do indeed crow softer than others. If not softer, than lower and not as piercing. In my flock, I've noticed it's the frizzles. I've had 2 frizzle roosters in a row that are the quietest roosters I've ever met. Granted, they were...

What are these 'teeth' on my ducks tongue?

This is Yoshi, he's an East Indie Bantam drake. I noticed today that he has "teeth" on the sides of his tongue. I have seen that geese have these but didn't know ducks did too! What are they called? What are they for? Just curious!

10 week old EE. Pullet or Cockrell? Confusing tail arch

Update: The tail arch continued to grow, but sickle feathers or saddle feathers never grew well past the 12 week mark. Eventually, the curved "rooster tail" just fell off entirely and she's a hen! Very odd. My theory is that the arched pointed tail feathers were her her first baby tail feathers...

Rooster has rejected hen. How to get him to accept her

Guys I have a great update! They are not only getting along amazing now, they are best friends! So here's what I did; I kept them in a separate coop with just the rooster and the hen and a bunch of babies/pullets. They were allowed to walk freely around the coop during the day, and slept in wire...

Please Help! Baby call duck keeps falling on back

I just got a new call duck yesterday. Someone gave her away for free... Which is already a bit suspicious. They told me she was 4 months old but she looks only about a month and a half... Anyways. Besides being extremely dirty when I got her, she seemed ok. She was running around and such. But...

Black bruises (?) on pullets legs?

This is my 6 week old Splash Ameracauna chick. She has developed a black spot on one of her legs. Is it a bruise? I thought chicken bruises were yellow. Bruise on left leg

Rooster has rejected hen. How to get him to accept her

Do you have any suggestions on how to perhaps get the hen to accept HIM? She's not familiar with roosters in general because she's almost 3 and has never met one till now.
