A little oil lubrication around/on the vent. Quiet, dark area to rest. When my parrot went through this, I was told to put her in the bathroom and run a hot shower steam up the room. I haven't had a chicken prolapse, yet
That would've been an idea - if it weren't too late. When you grow trap plants, how far do you keep them from your preferred plant, to keep those safe?
They're gone. Burned. I planted the dill for myself. Wouldn't have removed the caterpillars, had I known. How sad. But the aphids - I was just so grossed out. Checked my much smaller dill plants in my greenstalks on the other side of the deck. Saw neither caterpillars nor aphids. Will keep...
OMG! I can't tell you how grossed out I am, right now! And glad I saw them! And glad YOU saw them! I used my phone camera, magnified. What the hell kind of bugs are these??
I just pulled several, plump caterpillars off my dill plant and dropped them in soapy water. Then I noticed skillions of tiny... "dots" all over the plant - top to bottom.
THEN I looked up dill pests and discovered that I likely killed swallowtail larva. 😕 Are these tiny dots eggs? Or might they...
Nice set up! And yes, it's looking good!
I need to get my compost turned. I'm SO bad about it. But I noticed a squash of some sort, growing in my emptied compost ring - and I kind of want to leave it grow and see what it is. It's the healthiest plant on my property!
Mine are 12 weeks and they've had a wee bit of peas and corn - left-overs that our parrot didn't eat. I believe you can get lots of idea by searching "hot weather"
Pretty bird!
I'm not in Florida, but along with the shade and ventilation, I add frozen water bottles to my girls' waterers when it's hot. I also put a shallow basin of water in their run, so they can cool their feet. Chilled or frozen produce can be a good, occasional treat to beat the heat.
