I picked some rhubarb today to make jam. You mix chunks with sugar to macerate overnight in the fridge. Well... there are some stalks left over... What to do with them that doesn't take a lot of time, is gluten free, and I already have the ingredients?
Rhubarb Custard. Except the custard broke...
It's chilly enough this morning that I built a fire in the wood stove. We'll probably open the window/door to cool the house off later. :lau
Today I really need to pick the rhubarb and maybe make something with it. The plant that is a split off a neighbor's is looking fantastic! The two that...
I put my peppers (and tomatoes) in the ground, and we will have some cool nights in this coming week as well. I know that they'll sit there, staring at the sky for a few days/weeks before they get going again. So it goes...
I did not know that peppers like to be close to each other! I'm filing...
Today I will:
Workout
Pick my rhubarb, MAYBE cook it today
Debug the asparagus
We'll see what else I can get done outside. Chilly, possibly rainy today.
Here's a link to it.

I did use olive oil instead of butter this time. :thumbsup
Another turtle visited us too. This time, NOT a snapper. I think she made a nest in the driveway, right in a tire lane. Not a good place. It has been driven over several times already. :(
I baked a beautiful loaf of GF bread today. (It's chilly and therefore a good day to have the oven going!)
I had a "heel" sandwich. Fresh home made bread, still warm, with home made jam and PB. Life doesn't get any better than that!
Baking a beautiful loaf of GF bread made me happy today. I made a "heel" sandwich. I shouldn't have sliced into it while it was warm, but it was delicious. PBJ on warm home made bread... :drool
Today I am trying -- for the third time! -- to grow chard. The first time, I planted the seeds in the dirt, about 15-20. I think 2 have come up.
The second time, I soaked the seed overnight, as I'd read online. Then planted them, and I got 2 out of the row.
This time, I got a new packet of a...
I'd heard of this for carrot, but not for anything else.
This time, I bought a different variety of chard, soaked the seed overnight, and planted them in pots full of compost. If this doesn't work, I'll figure that the garden gods do not want me to grow chard.
The third time WILL be the charm, er, chard, right?
This time, I soaked the chard seed overnight, used a different variety, and planted them in pots full of compost. If these don't sprout, I will figure that the garden gods do not want me to have my own chard.
Seeds not sprouting was a big topic on the other garden thread. A lot of them came from Baker Creek. :( I am going to replant chard for the 2nd time today, and see if I get a better germination rate. So far, I'm only 2-3 out of 20. I soaked the second batch, and it was no better than the first...
