That’s what I was thinking. I was originally basing it off of 2 square feet per bird. Even at 2.5 square feet, there would be plenty of of room for 200 birds.
A trial run is definitely a good idea. Thank you! I usually take my birds somewhere to be processed, so I will definitely check with them that they can accommodate that many at a time.
Hi all!
I have raised meat birds in the pastusually 20-30 at a time. In the beginning, I had them in a coop then we moved to the tractor method.
Anyways, I have a close friend that is willing to let me use his barn and provide the set up for pretty much everything if I can raise them for his...
I have egg eaters. I’m looking at getting roll away nest boxes. My birds tend to lay on the ground and not in their nest boxes, so I am not looking at spending a ton of money on boxes that they might not use.
I found these and wanted to know if anyone has used these?
Thank you. I did start with one day of the safeguard before I posted but wanted to make sure I was on the right track. I have seen where I need to retreat 10 days later with the safeguard, what are your thoughts on that?
No, it was so frustrating. She just told me corrid and safeguard, like I already planned on I just wanted to know how long to treat for. She did not give me any recommendations on that. I won’t be going back.
Hi guys. Here are the results of my chickens fecal float test.
I know they need safeguard and corrid. But not sure on the doses and if the corrid can be given at the same time I’m treating the worms. Let me know your thoughts.
Are the eggs I’ve collected in the last few days before noticing the worms still edible?
Should I treat all chickens? I don’t know for sure what chicken it’s coming from.
What is the egg withdrawal period?
Looks like my birds have worms. I have never dealt with them before so I need some help for treatment please. I also noticed what I think are red mites. :(
So crazy. I got some from farm and home on March 30. They were only a couple days old and they are sneezing too. I’ve had layers for years and have been doing meant birds for 2 years now and don’t recall them ever sneezing! Mine are still in a brooder but I’m afraid they might transmit a...
First time treating lice..
I know what to use, but I was curious to know what people do with the coop bedding. I usually use mine for compost but that’s obviously not a good idea. How should it be disposed of to help keep re-infestation to a minimum?
I haven’t finished the actual door yet but I just successfully set up the electronics!! Thank you so much for posting this! Saves me a ton of money since I needed 2 doors!
We have moved ours a couple of times with them in it and out of it. If you do move it with them in it, make sure to take out anything that is not securely attached to the walls.
If you take them out to move it, make sure you gather them all up at night and that they know where the coop is. One...
Definitely try the deer netting. You can get it on amazon for like $20 and it’ll keep the girls in and hawks out. It is very thin so I will not keep any other kind of critters out like coons or weasels.
Never easy to lose a bird! Possibly a hawk? They are out in full force where I live at in Michigan, we just lost one of ours to a hawk a few weeks ago. With no cover on your run, a hawk could have even gotten her in the run and carried her over the fence. We have deer netting over our run to...
Thank you both for the articles! Very informational. I just applied some tape tonight. I will bring home some VetRap tomorrow to use. The chick is only 3 days old, so hopefully this early intervention will help!
