Do they have access to grit? They have to have grit to process anything other than their crumbles. If the do then put a corn cob in with them they will have a blast only thing is corn is a carb so be sure to keep foods like that to minimum and give them their feed most of all. So they are...

It’s amazing what they can adapt to. I have 2 ducks blind In one eye and I can watch them and how they have adapted to only being able to see out of one eye. It’s not causing problems walking but they have had to adapt.

When my chickens are broody I candle any time i want they are very compliant . Once in a while I'll get a peck on the hand but nothing serious.

Are you close to a veterinary school? Sometimes they will do surgeries etc for training purposes. The price would most likely be more reasonible.
