Heyo! Unfortunately, we lost our chickens. I have been working on their area and think we will be ready to get some more this fall. We live in Phoenix and the summers are tough on them. I wanted to let some vegetation grow, providing shade and a much cooler microclimate before we started...

Plant stuff before you put them in there. Mine eat new growth and all love to scratch at loose dirt, so it's good to kinda build something to prevent that as they will destroy roots. Also, lay a couple boards down and flip them every day or two - critters galore and that makes the eggs delicious!

I would just be careful if doing this. If it can "flap" wind may be an issue
