They were shipped eggs. I originally had 14 but I tossed 7 because some were cracked and others didn’t grow the first 3 days of incubation. The rest made it until the end but one died in shell, I checked inside and it’s peak was deformed. So 6 remained. And all other siblings are doing okay...
I hatched 6 eggs, the 7th one had a peak deformity and I just realized another one of the quails has an issue. He or she can’t keep a balanced head. It still eats and drinks when it can but it has no control of its head. It’s very sad to see. That’s why I put it back in the incubator by itself...
Out of 7 eggs one didn’t peep or wiggle. When opening the egg for diagnosis I found a dead chick with an underbite… does anybody know what went wrong? Or is it genetics? They’re shipped eggs. Pictures below 👇

I incubated 2 quails in 2019 for the first time. Now I’m back to it. I successfully hatched 7 quails so far out of 10 and I’m at the second batch it looks like 6 out of 7 will make it.

Thank you for answering either way ❤️ it was more of a curious about what could have caused the deaths post. Since then 1 of my 7 passed, unsure of why, it seemed to have happened as he was sleeping one night 🥺
