I received my first trio of bantams as a 5- year old and took over their care completely by the age of 7 (1992). I started showing chickens at the age of 9 and got my first d’Anvers around that same time. 28 years later I am still raising d’Anvers.
I created my own strain of Watermaal starting in 2006 from my d’Anvers and silkies. They are now show quality and my strain is one of the primary ones that has been cultivated by other breeders and is at least partially responsible for causing the ABA to take the Watermaal off the inactive list.
I still like to show but haven’t had a lot of time to do so since moving to Tennessee ( I was born and raised in Washington state). From Nov 2015- Nov 2021 I worked as a Tennessee State Park Ranger full time and worked most weekends, so could not attend shows.
I am a mother of two sons. It is yet to be determined if they will end up liking chickens or not.
