Oh, MY, what a pose!
Martha is as calm, no, calmer than any others in the flock, but she would launch herself at a hen who may have just looked at the chicks in a manner that Martha didn't appreciate.
I went and checked the calendar again...I was mistaken. The 21st day is FRIDAY, not tomorrow.
I do understand that chicks can't count to 21, that they will hatch when THEY are ready, not according to the calendar. They could hatch tomorrow, or Saturday, or not at all...
:(
The eggs were...
Hannah is still being a 💩. She was on the left side of the roost, and all the chicks were smooshed up against each other tightly, trying to avoid her. Martha was in the middle and LC was roosting below, on the edge of the wheelbarrow where Tamar is brooding. I moved Hannah to the far right side...
I just found the real bottle that I was supposed to fill with water and insert into the incubator, and it probably holds a cup!
Humidity is holding at 60%.
Day 21 is tomorrow FRIDAY, technically at night.
I'm trying to recall if I posted a photo of my house plants here. They're on the porch right now, and I haven't put them up on stands yet.
Christmas cacti (2), Angel-wing begonias, spider plants, Mother-in-law tongue, aloe, and an "I can't recall the name" succulent.
I've been doing some research about putting chicks under a broody hen...others here recommended that the hen brood for at least two weeks. Rahab started sleeping in the nest box on May 7th. Today is the 22nd.
Good to know, jic.
I have five chicks, 6 weeks old this week. Four are purebred SS bantams, black chick is a Sussex/Dominique cross, so a boy.
They all look male to me but I have hopeful doubts about blue band.
Blue band on left, purple on right

Got home after 5pm, humidity was 34%. I added a little water, a couple tablespoons. When I checked after 6pm it had only gone up to 37%. So I filled the water bottle (1/4 cup?) and added it. Humidity has shot up to 60%, vent wide open as per instructions.
:fl
Meanwhile, back in the coop...Tamar...
